Mass Division of Insurance Rate Cap -Update 5/14/2010

COBRA Subsidy Extended Update 4/21/2010

On April 15, 2010, the President signed into law an extension of unemployment benefits and the COBRA premium assistance that helps with the cost of health benefits for those that have lost their job. The new law also provides retroactive elgibility for individuals who lost their jobs after the prior COBRA subsidy expired on March 31, 2010.

Senoir Insurance Plans

MDSIS-Spring provides senior insurance plans to MDS members, their spouses and staff who are age 65+ and have Medicare Parts A & B.

Supplement Plans:
Senior’s Choice Group Retiree medical insurance program reduces out-of-pocket costs by covering medical expenses approved of but not paid for by Medicare. Senior’s Choice offers core benefits with the ability to customize you plan by selecting additional benefits and/or deductibles to suit your individual needs. There are also three levels of Part D prescription options that can be added to create a comprehensive package. The Premier drug option is one of the few available with complete coverage in the “coverage gap”.

Monumental (Senior Supplemental) insurance operates as a supplement to Medicare Parts A & B only. With no network you are free to see the physicians of your choice, provided that they participate in the Medicare program. Since Monumental does not offer any prescription drug coverage, Humana is a nice compliment to this product.

Prescription Drug Plans (Part D):
Humana Part D prescription drug plan has three options: Standard, Enhanced, and Complete. The Enhanced plan provides good coverage at an affordable rate; perfect for those with moderate prescription needs. Humana’s industry leading plan designs, formularies and premium costs have made it a favorite for our 65 and older population.
